Who says "Dreams" can't come true. Above is a little 6 year old boy who went to finals at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. He watched Michael Klim, Ian Thorpe, Geof Heugill and many others swim that night. He screamed in his squeaky high pitched voice for the Men's 4x200m relay team, who won GOLD. He told me that night, "that one day he was going to swim in this pool where the Olympians swim."
Some 12 years later at the same venue, SOPAC, where he has swum in the same pool many, many, many times, he qualified for the Olympic trials in Adelaide. On Thursday we head to Adelaide for Matt to swim "with the Olympians". He is realistic and knows he won't make the Olympic team, you have to be in the top 8 to make the final and then they take the top 2 and the top 2 have to get a qualifying time to make the Olympic team.
All the 4.30am starts for training, 8 to 9 sessions a week, swimming up to 7k's a session, a couple of gym sessions a week. It is a long hard road but Matt will be there pursuing his dreams.

I love this story, it gives me goose bumps. What a fantastic experience. I couldn't image dealing with the nerves, the nerves for Mum too, it would be intense. I wish Matt lots of luck and he has already done so well getting to this stage. Looking forward to hearing how he goes. Have a great time.
