End of Year 12

Last Friday was the Year 12 Presentation Assembly, last day for Year 12. What an amazing morning. We were treated to some musical items from very talented young men and women from Year 12, a special guest speaker - past student and now PE teacher, Jason Brown. Presentation of special awards and finally their Year 12 Portfolio with their final school report and Certificates.

Matt came away with a Merit Certificate in Industrial Technology - Timber, numerous individual Sporting Certificates, Outstanding Sportsman of Year 12. He also received one of the "Special Awards" - Ross Speed Memorial Trophy for Excellence in Industrial Technology. This award was given to the student who was passionate about their IT job, their presentation of their HSC portfolio of their job and their dedication and determination to present an outstanding piece of work. Ross Speed was a student at LHS in 2005 who made an amazing wooden electronic guitar. Ross was tragically killed in a car accident 6 months after leaving school. This Award had a very special meaning to Matt and he feels very honoured to have received it.

October Christmas Stamp-a-Stack

These are 2 of the cards that we will be making at the Christmas Stamp-a-Stack in October.

I've used "Holiday Lineup" stamp set, I just love these little guys. I've wanted this set for some time now but waited to see if it was on the Retirement List first. When I knew it was being continued I bought it straight away. It is a set that requires colouring but I've kept these 2 cards simple for the SAS.

The next 2 cards I've used "Tags till Christmas" (new to this year's catalogue), "Lovely as a Tree", and "Snow Swirled" stamp sets.

If you'd like to come along to make these 8 cards (2 of each design) + envelopes for $20 (cash), email me at denisemaccabe@gmail.com

Artistic Etchings - Brayering

At Regionals on Saturday one of the "Workshop WOWS" demonstrated was Brayering and masking. This is a technique that I've been wanting to know how to do and when I've played with it myself I've never had any success. Kerry Bunting was the demonstrator who did this WOW. I came home and yesterday I got busy playing with my brayer. The above card is what I've come up with, which is a complete CASE of Kerry's card. I still have to perfect the technique and try and get a transition of shading from darker to lighter, giving a more realistic effect of a sunset. For my first attempt with a little more knowledge of brayering I think I'm happy with the result. The card is for a work colleague who is going OS and visiting Paris for her 50th birthday. Perhaps I could put a request in for my 50th!!!

BTW Rock Eisteddfod Challenge on Friday night at the Enteratainment Centre was fantastic. Lisarow High came 2nd and their performance was unbelievable. They certainly did themselves proud and rocked the roof off the Entertainment Centre.

SU Regionals 2011

I'm off to SU regionals on Saturday. SU events are always fun and informative. This is my swap this year. I've used the "Creative Elements" stamp set which I received at Convention. I've embossed the "Perfect Plum" card with the "Petals-a-Plenty" embossing folder through the Big Shot, I've cut a "Top Note" die with "Very Vanilla" cardstock. Stamped the leafy flourish in "Garden Green", stamped the flower in "Poppy Parade", stamped the butterfly with "More Mustard" and "Perfect Plum" using the rock n' roll technique. Cut the butterfly out and attached with a dimentional. Daubered some Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint on the flower and butterfly and popped a pearl in the centre of the flower and on the butterfly. Stamped a greeting using "Short n' Sweet" stamp set.

I'm looking forward to Regionals at the Covention Centre at Darling Harbour but also to Rock Eisteddfod Challenge which is tonight at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, go Lisarow High, you rock the Entertainment Centre one last time. Olivia has been waiting 5 years to do Rock Eisteddfod and finally her time has come, her first and last Rock Eisteddfod. This will be Matt's 5th and final Rock Eisteddfod. Such a great experience for the kids performing at the Entertainment Centre in front of thousands. Can't wait. :-)

Simply Sent Kits

This is a card from a "Simply Sent" kit in the SU catalogue. Yet more 18th birthday parties for Matt to attend. This card was quick and easy.

Crafting with Friends - "Joyfold Card"

I just love "folding" cards. This one is called a "Joyfold" card. Thanks Julie and Beryl for a lovely day. It is great getting together and sharing ideas. Look forward to our next day of crafting.

Crafting with Friends - Corner Bookmark

This gorgeous little "Corner Bookmark" uses minimal stock but is so effective. Great gift for those avid readers in your life.

Craft Day with Friends - Box Card

I had a lovely day on Wednesday, crafting with a couple of friends. We made 3 items, I think this one is my favourite, although I like all of them. This is a "Box Card", using one piece of DSP you can make this clever "Box Card" and the amazing thing is there is no double sided tape holding it together, just the folds. Gotta love clever crafting.

Scallop Square Boxes

These cute little "Scallop Square Boxes" I cased from Melissa Davies. They are made using the Big Shot Scallop Square die. Decorated with some retired DSP, some ribbon a diamonte or pearl and you have yourself a real cute little gift box. These boxes are holding my Lucky Door Prizes for tomorrow's Catalogue Launch.

Father's Day Cards

Here are some Father's Day cards that I made to sell in my sale box at my workplace. I was going through my "retired" stamp sets and this was one from a couple of years ago called "For Father", so I thought it was perfect to whip up a few cards with. Just love the puppy. :-)
